The 2015 tournament was another banner year offshore with the “weather gods” on our side during the event. Many boats of all sizes were able to run south to the canyons where the water was warm and the fish were plentiful. I want to thank everyone for their involvement in the tournament. All sponsors, donations, and support continue to show your dedication to the Big Game Battle and what we all enjoy: “time on the water” and friendships that develop each year.

2015 Charity Contributions

National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS)

Our charity efforts once again showcased the Big Game Battle’s true colors and generosity by supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). Through team pledges, individual donations, team challenges, silent auctions, and raffles, we raised $67,000.00.

Special thanks to Brandon Kelly for leading the charge for MS awareness, along with the support committee: Steve Sookikian and Christine Flashner. Brandon’s touching video with his mother brought incredible awareness to the cause.

Notes from the NMSS:
“The Big Game Battle has a big heart! Your extremely generous donations totaling $67,000 are an incredible accomplishment. This partnership has been an impressive experience from beginning to end. Our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed.”
— Lori Espino, National MS Society, Greater New England Chapter President

Special Note from Brandon Kelly:
“On behalf of my mother, my entire family, and the NMSS, thank you for your amazing support. We raised $67,000 for MS! The funds will have a huge impact on MS research and supporting people with MS.”

Looking Ahead

Due to Sail Race Week coinciding with the Big Game Battle at the Nantucket Boat Basin, the 2016 tournament is scheduled for August 11–14, 2016. The Wharf Cottages and Dreamland have been reserved for the event. Save the date and enter early to secure your spot, as it will sell out again.

Special Thanks
A heartfelt thank you to the Nantucket Boat Basin team, sponsors, donors, and everyone who helped make this event such a success.

Respectfully,
Tournament Committee
