Having started with just 3 boats and a couple of guys who like to fish has evolved to more than 50 boats fishing tournament. This would not be possible if not for the participants and sponsors who really make this event happen. The Big Game Battle has become such a successful tournament, we realized it is a fantastic way to support worthy charitable causes. We think of our tournament as putting the FUN in FUNdraising!
For several years, we have successfully raised funding for many charities at The Big Game Battle including: The Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute and The Jimmy Fund to support Leukemia Research and Patient Care, Juvenile Diabetes, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, The Nantucket S.T.A.R. Program, ALS, Camp Harbor View, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, The International Rett Syndrome Foundation, and Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program.
This summertime event is an offshore sport fishing tournament held on the history-rich Island of Nantucket. Fishing is allowed East or South of the Island for a wide variety of game fish from Bluefin, Yellowfin, Albacore, Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Big Eye and more. The Nantucket Boat Basin is centrally located to fish these waters. The Island also boasts an active nightlife. The hospitality of the Dock Master and Professional Crews has been most accommodating since the inception of this event in 2002.
This is not a ‘money’ tournament. We do support the competition between the boats and crews. However, our most important goal is to have a fun weekend with friends and return home with memorable stories.
