I want to personally thank everyone for being a part of the 2014 Big Game Battle in Nantucket. Together, we achieved another memorable event with many stories to tell in the years to come. The 48-boat fleet battled some tough weather conditions with winds reaching over 20 knots and seas exceeding 6 feet, but that did not stop us from competing for the cup. The boats that reached the edge at the canyons seemed to have the best luck, catching a variety of fish and stretching their point leads. Congratulations to all the winners in the tournament!

In memory of our close friend, there was nothing more fitting than when the Kevin P. Glynn Award went to his great friend John Galvin. We will all miss Kevin, and his spirit will remain with us forever!
Boys & Girls Club
Our charity efforts once again showed the Big Game Battle’s true colors and generosity to support the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester. Through the online donation program “Sharingcounts,” team pledges, individual donations, team challenges, and auction/raffle, we raised $60,000.00. Amazing! Kevin Scannell did an exceptional job along with the committee team of Bob Scannell, Kristen Nelson, Catarina Maia, and Tina Miranda. Hats off to everyone—congratulations!
Looking Ahead
We continue to strive to improve the tournament to keep the weekend exciting and something to look forward to each year. There are a few rules we will review over the winter months that need clarification. We pushed the limit on the number of boats this year and will remain at 48 boats or less for the next tournament.
A special thanks to our friends at the Nantucket Boat Basin, who did another fabulous job accommodating our needs. Thank you again to all the sponsors, donors, and everyone who helped make this event what it is today.
This tournament is for all of ours, and with everyone’s involvement, we will continue to have many more Big Game Battles to look forward to.
We wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the boating season and hope to see you around the docks this fall.
Respectfully,
Tournament Committee
